Setup help, answers to common questions, and how to disconnect a tool. Still stuck? Email help@cloudytuesdays.com.

Before you connect

  1. Open Orbit and Sign in with Apple (first launch, or Settings). Memories kept only on your iPhone work without signing in; connecting AIs needs an account.
  2. Open the AIs tab and tap Connect an AI. The app walks you through four steps and gives you the connector URL, https://api.orbit.cloudytuesdays.com/mcp. It's the same for everyone and isn't a password: each AI still needs your approval in a browser.
  3. Each connection works in one workspace (Personal by default; more under Settings › Advanced), so you can keep work and personal apart.

Orbit was called Context Passport until October 2026. Connectors added with the old address, https://api.passport.cloudytuesdays.com/mcp, keep working; you don't need to change anything.

Signing in on a computer. The consent page lets you sign in with Apple, or enter the sign-in code the app shows during setup (or Settings › Advanced › Use a sign-in code). A code works once, for 5 minutes. Enter it only on an Orbit page you opened yourself.

On the consent page you choose the workspace, the categories the tool may read, and the categories it may save. Saving in those categories is automatic. Health, Finance and Relationships start unchecked, and "Allow soft-delete (forget)" is off unless you turn it on.

Connect a tool

Each tool's own plans decide what's possible. The notes below come from each provider's published documentation and can change; the app shows the same notes in each setup guide.

Claude on the web or desktop

  1. On a computer, open claude.ai or the Claude desktop app and go to Settings › Connectors.
  2. Choose Add custom connector, name it Orbit, and paste the connector URL.
  3. Select Connect. A browser page asks you to sign in (or enter the sign-in code) and choose the workspace and categories.
  4. In a chat, make sure Orbit is turned on in the tools menu.

Claude Code

  1. In a terminal, run claude mcp add --transport http orbit https://api.orbit.cloudytuesdays.com/mcp
  2. Start Claude Code, run /mcp, and choose Orbit to authenticate in your browser.
  3. Pick the namespace and categories on the consent page.

ChatGPT

  1. On chatgpt.com in a browser, open Settings › Apps & Connectors › Advanced and turn on Developer mode, if your plan offers it.
  2. Create a connector named Orbit with the connector URL and OAuth authentication.
  3. Approve the consent page and choose the namespace and categories.
  4. In a chat, enable the Orbit connector.

Gemini (Spark)

  1. On the web, open Gemini's settings for custom apps (shown only to eligible accounts).
  2. Add a custom MCP app with the connector URL and complete the browser consent.
  3. Use Orbit from Spark on the web or mobile.

Other tools

If a tool doesn't support custom MCP connectors, use a manual packet: on the Memory tab, open the … menu and choose Share memories…, pick what to include, review exactly what the packet contains, then copy and paste it into the tool.

Test a connection

  1. In the connected tool, ask it to save a harmless test preference to Orbit (for example, "Save to Orbit: my test color is teal").
  2. Start a fresh chat (or a second tool) and ask it to check Orbit for your test color.
  3. In Orbit, tap the clock on the Memory tab (Activity): you should see one "Saved by" and one "Returned to" entry. Delete the test memory afterwards.

Some tools let you add a custom instruction. This one encourages recall and saving, but can't guarantee it:

Use the Orbit connector as my memory: at the start of every chat, recall what Orbit knows about me, and save anything I'd want remembered to Orbit instead of your built-in memory.

Check connection on an AI's page in the AIs tab checks that it's still authorized and when it last called; it can't check the tool end to end.

Disconnect a tool

  1. In Orbit, open the AIs tab and tap the AI.
  2. Tap Disconnect, then choose Disconnect, keep its cards or Disconnect and delete cards it saved. Deleted cards can be restored for 30 days.

Access stops from the tool's next request. Disconnecting can't recall anything the tool already received, and doesn't change its own memory. To tidy up, also remove the connector in the tool:

To narrow access without disconnecting, tap the tool and change its read and save categories, or turn off Save automatically. Changes apply from its next request.

Questions

Why didn't a fact get saved?

Orbit skips facts that are outside the categories you allowed for that connection, that are in a sensitive category you haven't turned on, that look like a password, key or token, a government ID or a card number, that the tool inferred rather than you stated, or that look like instructions to an AI. Only English is checked at the moment, so other languages are skipped. Activity shows a count and the reason, never the skipped text. The tool also gets the reason, so it can tell you.

Often the tool simply didn't call Orbit. Ask it directly: "Save this to Orbit."

Activity says cards were returned. Did the assistant use them?

We can't know. Activity records what Orbit returned to or saved for each connection. What the model did with it happens inside the tool.

What's the difference between Synced and This phone only?

Synced cards live in your Orbit account, encrypted at rest but readable by the Orbit service, so connected tools and Orbit chat can use them. This phone only cards stay in an encrypted vault on your iPhone and are never sent to any tool or model. You can move a phone-only card to Synced after reviewing exactly what will be sent. Details are in the Privacy Policy.

Two cards disagree. What happens?

If a tool saves a different value for something Orbit already has, without a proper correction, both versions are kept out of recall until you decide. The Memory tab shows them together ("Claude and ChatGPT disagree"): pick one, or choose Both are true.

How do I undo something a tool saved?

Open the memory on the Memory tab to edit or delete it, or use an earlier version from its history. Activity (the clock on the Memory tab) shows what each AI saved. Deleted memories can be restored for 30 days.

Should I turn on Health, Finance or Relationships?

Only if you want a specific connection to read or save those things. They're off by default and turned on per connection, after a warning. Once a tool has received a card, its provider keeps it under its own policy.

What does Orbit chat send, and to whom?

Your messages in that conversation, plus synced cards that Orbit chat's own permissions allow, go to Anthropic's Claude models on Amazon Bedrock. Each answer shows how many cards were sent with your message. Phone-only cards are never sent. Free includes 30 messages a month on the default model; Pro includes 400 a month with a choice of models, where a Claude Sonnet message counts as 4. At busy times chat can be paused briefly even if you have messages left.

Can I use Orbit on iPad or the web?

The app is for iPhone. Connected tools work wherever they support Orbit, and the browser consent pages work on any computer.

How do I get my data out?

Settings → Export. You can export your synced account as JSON, this phone's vault as JSON, or phone-only cards as Markdown. Export is free on every plan. The app warns you first: the file is readable by anyone who gets it.

I got a new iPhone. Where are my cards?

Synced cards come back when you sign in with the same Apple Account. Phone-only cards are excluded from iCloud and device backups, so move them with an Orbit backup: Settings → Create encrypted backup, keep the recovery key it shows you, then Settings → Restore from backup on the new phone. Restoring a purchase doesn't restore data.

How do I delete my account?

Settings → Delete Orbit account. See Delete your account for what's deleted and when.
